1. Make the first move.

Most people who are looking for jobs usually peruse websites, newspapers and other sources to see if any companies are hiring. If there are particular companies that you would like to work but they are not currently hiring then feel free to make the first move by reaching out to them. Write a letter to these companies to express your desire to work for them. Make sure you emphasize your qualifications and you tailor your resume to fit the position you want to apply for. Although you might not get an offer right away, your initiative and enthusiasm will surely create a good impression and put you in the lead when vacancies start opening up.

2. Applying to more jobs will not necessarily increase your chances of getting hired.

When looking for a job, it's natural to think that it's wiser to apply as many jobs as possible. 4. Be persistent, but don't be a pest!

Following up is a very important aspect of job hunting. When you are applying for a job, you can't just submit your application and hope the employers call you back. Follow up your application once or twice a week through phone or email. If you still don't hear anything from the employer after a couple of months, then it might be time to move on to other prospects.
