Yes, I'm alive

Ok, sorry - things have been hectic. I'll give a quick overview of why I been M.I.A.

1) Got married and had the most awesome Costa Rican wedding
2) Completely gut renovated my house (year and half long process)
3) Been pitching TV show ideas out the ying-yang for a personal finance makeover TV show
4) Wrote a short passage for the Improv Everywhere book which came out today!
5) Also got a new puppy!

And well, also a million other things in-between. Life as changed a bit since my book, I'm relaxing more, travelling more, and well doing what married people do (i.e. going to bed at 10 pm.)

Future posts will also be sporadic, working on some other projects which may or may not actually materialize, but we'll see! Thanks to everyone for checking in. Now go buy that Improv Everywhere book!

Alan, your book changed my life. I was renting for 6 years in Portland, OR and upon reading "A Million Bucks..." I feverishly worked on cleaning up my credit and closed on a small house during the downturn in the 4th quarter of '08 at $150k). Right now I'm refinancing through the VA at 4.5% and soon will collect the stimulus IRS incentive (7k). All said and done, I'll clear almost 10k, have rental income and pay less to live when I was renting. Oh, and I now have a garden to cut down on food costs.

I'd like to see you do more with your blog. Perhaps you could enlist some help like, say, Donald Trump (who has guest blogs), and Tim Ferriss of Four Hour Workweek fame - I'm sure he doesn't maintain much of his blog. What makes you unique from those guys is your sense of humor, and you have a different approach; you're more a "man of the people," so to speak. I think you have more potential than those guys to reach the masses. It only makes sense you're moving on to other media. I'm curious to see what you come up with next.

hey, congrats!
Your book changed my life too! First I'm saving a lot of money now, I'm still renting cos I have to wait til I have enough money to invest but I'm living on Ramon Noodles too! LOL amazing how much money I save on that! I use to spend like $300/month on groceries and I now I pay $20 for the whole month!!! Okay I lost 30lbs but I was too fat anyway! So it's a very good thing!
I also use the popcorn trick once in a while when I go to a movie, and it works all the time! hey free popcorn.. you cant say no! lol
anyway, I wanted to say thanks and good luck!

Hi Alan,
just saw that you married, congratulations :-)

I have finished your book some time ago and try to use some of your ideas. I have about three years left and I think I can get it done! My main part is, instead of investing in real estate like you did, to invest in private companies. I think this works out, too.

Best,
Hilmar

hey Alan, I bought your book because of your green-color-flashing cover with my favorite phrase "million bucks" on it just 2 days ago and I am already at chapter 20, i got to tell ya..i got so motivated and already got on reading tons of articles about mutual funds, and Roth IRAs..it was a great feeling for me to have since i have never had this much motivation on my personal finances. anyway, the book is enjoyable and thanks!

Thank you for this book. It is by far one of the best books I have read on personal finance. I am on a similar journey but since I am 25, my plan is to reach the million dollar mark by 35 traveling and teaching English. Different paths but the same destination. I have read and reviewed some pages over and over so that the information can stick and believe me, I have become a lot smarter with my money as a result of your book. I want others to be able to have a similar experience so I wrote a review of your book on my blog and included your great list of "Extreme Cheapskate Strategy." Here is the review article link: http://www.tatesjourney.com/?p=964 It is the list I can do to show my appreciation for this great book. THANK YOU.
